How to choose a persimmon soap (a quick buyer’s checklist)
- Check that persimmon tannin is actually listed. Look for persimmon tannin, kakishibu or Diospyros kaki in the ingredients. Several listings sell “persimmon” soaps whose descriptions don’t match the product.
- Decide how you feel about scent. Scented bars (Pelican, Natrulo) are pleasant for many people, but they add a smell. Fragrance-free bars are the safer choice for shared bathrooms, migraines, MCAS or a partner who dislikes perfume.
